The Tripartite Division of Isaiah and the Problem of the Authorship of the Book of Isaiah (2)

#1. Second Isaiah has been traditionally regarded to be chs. 40-55. As mentioned in the previous post, however, chs. 34-35, which originally was deemed to belong to First Isaiah, is these days viewed as Second Isaiah. Second Isaiah mainly prophesizes the restoration of Judah from the Babylonian destruction (the judgment of God), and its geographical backdrop is primarily Babylon. Second Isaiah even talks about the return from the Babylonian deportation:

Go out from Babylon, flee from Chaldea,
declare this with a shout of joy, proclaim it,
send it forth to the end of the earth;
say, “The LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob!” (Is 48:20, NRSV)

이사야서의 3분 구조와 이사야의 저작에 관한 문제 2

#1. 제2이사야는 전통적으로 40-55라고 여겨졌으나 이전 글에서 언급한 것처럼 원이사야에 포함된다고 여겼던 34-35도 지금은 제2이사야로 보는 추세이다. 제2이사야는 하나님의 심판으로 멸망당한 유다의 회복을 주로 예언하며 예언의 지리적 배경은 주로 바벨론이다. 제2이사야는 심지어 바벨론으로부터의 귀환을 이야기하기도 한다.

“너희는 바빌론에서 나오너라. 바빌로니아 사람들에게서 도망하여라. 그리고 ‘주님께서 그의 종 야곱을 속량하셨다’하고, 즐겁게 소리를 높여서 알려라. 이 소식이 땅 끝까지 미치도록 들려주어라.” (사 48:20, 새번역)

이사야서의 3분 구조와 이사야의 저작에 관한 문제 1

혹시 “제2이사야”, “제3이사야”, 혹은 “원이사야” 같은 말을 들어본 적이 있는가? 이사야를 연구하는 구약 학자들은 늘 사용하는 말이지만 일반적으로 잘 알려져 있지 않은 말이다. 직관력이 좋은 사람이라면 이 말들이 이사야서의 저자와 관련이 있다는 정도를 눈치 챌 수 있을 것이다. 그리고 조금 더 상상력이 풍부한 사람이라면 이사야의 저자가 역사적 이사야 자신이 아닌 다른 누군가라는 것을 암시하는 말로 이해할 수 있을 것이다.
